Description

Thyme & Tide Beach House is perched on the dunes with magnificent views of the sandy beaches. This house has state of the art finishes and is incredibly spacious, making it ideal for retreats, workshops and extended family holidays. The communal areas are open plan and flow into each other. There are loads of break away areas to retreat to for some peace and quiet, and to contemplate nature. There is an open plan lounge area which opens onto a wraparound wooden deck. This leads onto the state of the art kitchen, ideal for cooking up a storm, while still remaining a part of the house. There is a separate scullery and lock up pantry. The dining room can open up both onto the sunny morning deck for breakfast, or onto the other side where the barbecue is located. This area has fabulous sea views, and is protected from the elements, and is great for both indoor and outdoor entertaining.

The seaside village of Yzerfontein lies 85 km north of Cape Town on the R27. Snuggled between Cape Town and Langebaan, Yzerfontein is the perfect base from which to explore the many attractions of the Cape West Coast.

This is a perfect area for cycling enthusiasts too, as there are many great rides. Yzerfontein is known for its unique 16 Mile Beach, the longest uninterrupted sandy beach on the South African coastline, stretching north of the main beach, to the West Coast National Park near Langebaan. The walks are incredible.

Yzerfontein is best described as a beach paradise where warm, lazy days stretch into long, pleasurable evenings. It is here that R&R and adventure abound in equal proportions. It is known equally well for its natural beauty, vast stretches of white sandy beach and tranquillity, as well as its tradition of West Coast warmth and hospitality. Enjoy beachcombing, whale watching and dolphin watching, bird watching, mountain biking, scenic drives and day tours, as well as hiking and water sports such as skiing, sailing, surfing and angling. It is well-known for the local snoek (barracuda) and crayfish (lobster) and has a small craft harbour for both leisure and commercial boats.

The bay is the annual springtime destination for Southern Right whales (August to November) who find their way down from the cold Antarctic to calve. Visitors can view these magnificent mammals frolicking close to shore, from a number of vantage points.
