Buffalo Ridge Safari Lodge is the first wholly-owned, Community-based Safari Lodge to be developed in South Africa. The lodge is an eco-tourism partnership between North-West Parks, the Balete Ba Lekgophung Community and the operator, The Nature Workshop. The community has a 45-year lease to operate a commercial lodge with traversing rights across the reserve. The concept is unique in South Africa as the community owns the lodge, with substantial benefits accruing back to the community itself.

Carved into the rocky mountainside, and Beyond Phinda Rock Lodge sits in sheer seclusion, suspended over the magnificent valley below. Six stone and adobe suites burrow into the heart of the cliffside, with solid wooden shutters and doors opening out onto a private viewing deck and plunge pool balanced on the very edge of a breathtaking precipice. Fringing the Phinda Private Game Reserve's wildlife-rich wetland system, situated along the edge of the rare sand forest, the sophisticated and Beyond Phinda Vlei Lodge is intimately integrated into the surrounding bush.
